We are a voluntary community group providing practical construction facilities in a workshop environment working mainly with wood and associated materials. Members build or repair their own personal items, participate in the construction of items for local community organisations, or just enjoy the friendly social atmosphere, with plenty of cake, tea and coffee.

The Shed is open to men and women 18+ of a practical nature who may wish to use our facilities or develop new workshop skills while enjoying the company of others.

Because of the safety aspect of the workshop machinery, we have to give every new member safety induction to assess their competence to operate the machinery. Help is on hand for informal guidance of course, but each member is responsible for their own safety and that of those around them. Appropriate PPE must be worn when using any equipment that requires it.

We are all volunteers and do not have the training or qualifications to teach workshop skills formally, or to be carers or support workers for individuals who require supervision. We cannot provide any kind of professional health support and we are not trained in dealing with mental health issues, but the social atmosphere of the Shed may be conducive to helping overcome loneliness, social isolation and poor mental wellbeing.

You are welcome to contact Dave Shaw on 07964 851114 if you require further information on any of the above.

We are all volunteers who enjoy making and mending things for ourselves or the local community. But just as important is enjoying the company and friendship of each other while we work together.

CC Shed now has its own Group Page as part of the Co-op's 'Co-operate' initiative.
"Co-operate's mission is to help people make good things happen in communities.
It’s for people who:
Care about their community
Want to join forces to get things done.
Co-operate is created with communities, for communities, and is owned by communities."

Please take a look and see if we can help you, or if you can help us. 🙂
